It’s the most wonderful time of year again! The holidays have officially arrived, and we all know what that means – it’s also the busiest time of year for social marketing. What with holiday celebrations happening left, right, and centre, it’s the perfect time to explore what kind of content creation your brand can distribute to get your brand and your followers into the holiday spirit!

Holiday Hashtags & Festive Instagram Stories

Creating a branded holiday hashtag is a fun and efficient way to spark engagement within your follower community, and allows followers to actively interact directly with your brand.

For example, Anthropologie provides an excellent example of a branded hashtag that works through their #anthrowindows initiative. This hashtag campaign invites and encourages followers and consumers to post photos of their local Anthropologie store holiday window displays to either their Instagram grid or their Insta Stories with the inclusion of the holiday hashtag. Anthropologie promotes the use of #anthrowindows through their advertising which helps spur excitement for the holiday season and gets followers both engaged with the brand and gives them unique perspectives on the store experience during the holidays.

Along with the holidays comes a whole bunch of different ways to market your brand in festive fashion. Get creative with holiday-related GIFs in your stories while also promoting your holiday hashtag!

Holiday Social Media Giveaways

What better way to up your social engagement than with holiday giveaway contests? While certain brands choose to do daily giveaways from December 1st to 24th, a more realistic option is to do weekly giveaways. By choosing to do one giveaway per week during the month of December, you give your followers more time to hear about and throw their names into the hat to win your contests.

This is an extremely popular practice, and it’s no mystery as to why: everyone loves the chance to win free products – especially those with significant value from their favourite brands! Of course, as with any contest, it’s important to establish entry rules. Typical rules for social media giveaways include: β€œFollow this account, like this photo, and tag 2 friends for your chance to win this week’s giveaway!” Β This both engages your current followers, as well as spreading word about your brand to your followers’ friends!

β€˜Tis the season of giving, so why not create a few generous customer appreciation campaigns to really show your followers the love? This is relatively similar to a giveaway, except there are no (tagging, engaging) strings attached!

By having a few customer appreciation surprises promoted on your social channels throughout December, your loyal followers/customers are sure to feel valued and like they’re seen by your company. Anything from hosting a one-day-only discount for followers to including a free gift along with an online purchase is sure to raise holiday spirits!
